Safekids New Zealand invites you to attend the third biennial Safekids Leadership Conference 2008

Conference theme: Partnerships for Prevention



The conference will focus on the importance of partnerships for prevention, the variety of different partnerships, how to build and maintain them and the basket of tools needed for successful injury prevention. The conference is intended for coalition leaders and those working with the Safekids Campaign. By attending this conference you will gain valuable information, practical advice and tools for effective injury prevention. It is an opportunity to participate in handson workshops, hear from leaders in injury prevention and public health, share knowledge and network with people from around the country.

The Safekids Leadership Conference is two days of practical workshops and open sessions for those working in child injury prevention.

Proposed topics include:
  • How to evaluate your programmes effectively with Robin Peace, Massey University of Wellington
  • Building and maintaining strong coalitions
  • Partnership and leadership processes
  • Booster seat research with Dr Liz Segedin
  • Mentoring new injury prevention workers with Hineamuru Ropati and Val Teraitua
  • Drowning prevention with Dr Mike Shepherd and Water Safety New Zealand
  • Starship Trauma Services with Dr James Hamill and Rangi Dansey
  • Accessing information and data
  • Pacific partnerships
  • Advocacy and local government
  • Engaging the media

Conference cost

Registration is just $50 per person and includes the conference dinner. The cost of accommodation and travel is the responsibility of each participant.

Accommodation

Safekids has secured a special delegates room rate of just $146.25 (incl GST) for twin share or single at the conference venue, the Airport Grand Chancellor.

The Hotel Grand Chancellor Auckland Airport is conveniently located within a five minute drive of the Auckland International and Domestic Terminals and only 15 kilometres to the heart of Auckland City. The hotel provides 193 superbly appointed guest rooms, including two suites, of which the majority have private patios overlooking an English Garden or the pool courtyard. Rooms are away from flight paths and road noise. It also has a gym, sauna and outdoor pool which are free for guests to use. Check-in time is 2pm and check-out time is 11am. Take the convenience of the hotel Airport Shuttle service between Hotel Grand Chancellor and the airport terminals, which operates daily every half an hour.
