An integral part of the Safekids strategy for child injury prevention is to provide a solid base of information about unintentional child injury and how it can be prevented.

The Safekids Information and Resource Centre is a professional library service with a comprehensive collection of national and international material collated since 1993. We aim to promote and assist child injury-prevention work throughout New Zealand by providing useful and appropriate resources and information services which include:
- Information about any area of unintentional child injury and its prevention.
- Resource material and information about planning interventions, education, training sessions and campaigns.
- Child injury issues, trends and emerging issues.
At the Information and Resource Centre, you will find:
- Academic literature - journal articles, research reports.
- Books on injury prevention, health promotion and programme development.
- Journals and newsletters from prevention agencies.
- Examples of prevention programmes and campaign literature, pamphlets and posters.
- Sample copies of New Zealand child-safety resources.
- Training resources, teaching kits, information kits.
- Education resources, including videos and DVDs.
- Newspaper clippings organised by subject.
- Access to significant electronic reference resources such as Medline and e-journals.
We act as an information 'clearinghouse', and if we don't have the answer to your question we probably know someone who will.

Wayne is originally from Opotiki in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and, as well as being a qualified librarian, holds a recent Fine Arts degree from Elam (University of Auckland).
